The Junior Board is composed of the Chairs of the Echols Council’s six committees. The Chairs are responsible for overseeing all activities of their committees and providing opportunities to all Echols Scholars to engage with the school and further their intellectual curiosity.
Emma Hinson

Major: Human Biology with Bioethics Minor
Involvement on Grounds: Chi Omega sorority, Pre-Dental Society, Madison House Head Program Director for Animals and Environment, Research Assistant for a Neurobiology lab.
Alexandra Zafftus
Alexandra is a fourth-year from Great Falls, Virginia pursuing an IMP in Bioethics with a minor in astronomy on a pre-med track. Around grounds, Alexandra is involved with medical research, UVA’s Double Reed Ensemble, and the medical fraternity, PhiDE. In her free time, you can find Alexandra volunteering with the Charlottesville-Albemarle Rescue Squad as an EMT or working at the farmer’s market!
Will Gottsegen
Will is a fourth year from New Orleans, Louisiana majoring in Economics and minoring in Data Analytics. Outside of Echols Council, he is involved in Madison House, Refurnished, Ducks Unlimited, and Greek life among other things!
Sara Kakatkar
I am a third year studying Environmental Sciences and Data Science from Chantilly, VA. I am on the pre-med track and volunteer as an EMT at Western Albemarle Rescue Squad, as well as work in the Surgical/Trauma ICU at UVA Health. I am also an organic chem lab TA this year.
Isabelle Engel
Isabelle is a fourth year from Richmond, Virginia double majoring in Commerce and Computer Science. Outside of Echols Council, Isabelle is involved in Greek life, Smart Woman Securities, and Women In Computer Science. She also enjoys exploring Charlottesville, listening to music, and getting Bodo's with friends!

Morgan Weber
Morgan Weber, a fourth-year student from New York City, is pursuing a double major in Media Studies and American Studies with a minor in Government at UVa. She is involved with a multitude of extracurriculars on Grounds, including serving as a Jewish Studies Undergraduate Fellow, the Data Analysis Intern at the Brody Jewish Center, Student Advisor at Enactus, and is a Member of the National Millennial / Gen Z Community. Outside of UVa, she loves reading op-ed journalism, open-water swimming, spending time with family and friends, and baking.
