Austin McNichols
Austin is a Fourth year from Fredericksburg, Virginia double majoring in Environmental Science and Political Philosophy, Policy, and Law. Around Grounds, when she's not talking to prospective Echols scholars, she is President of Alternative Spring Break, and an Executive Editor for the Virginia Undergraduate Law Review. In her spare time, you can find her hiking, running or sitting on her porch!
Collinn Tran
Collinn is a second-year from Charleston, West Virginia intending to major in either Government or Foreign Affairs and plans to attend law school afterward. He is a member of Enactus, Virginia Venture Fund, Honor Committee, Asian Student Union, and more! Collinn spends his free time trying out new restaurants around Charlottesville, hanging out with friends, and discovering new music.
Calvin Tecumseh Roe
Calvin is a second-year from Oak Park, Illinois double majoring in Economics and Statistics. On Grounds, he writes for the Cavalier Daily and is president of club men's ultimate frisbee. In his free time, you might see him reading a novel on the Lawn or watching his Detroit sports teams lose.
Nishita Ghanate
Nishita is a fourth-year from Atlanta, GA majoring in Politics Honors and Computer Science. She's also involved with the Honor Committee, the Jefferson Literary and Debating Society, and the Raven Society. In her free time, you can find Nishita at a basketball game, reading a good book, or exploring Charlottesville!
Richard (Ruichong) Xu
Richard is a first-year from Ningbo, China. Being infatuated with law, politics, philosophy, and economics, he wants to double major in Political Philosophy, Policy and Law, and Economics. Richard is now also a language consultant for the VISAS program (Volunteers with International Students, Staff, and Scholars). In his spare time, he likes playing the violin, writing Chinese calligraphy, and cooking! In 2023, Richard published his first book 《法律小谈》(A Brief Talk About the Law, ISBN:978-1-64695-308-0) In the book, Richard elucidated his understanding of and thoughts on some legal theories, the idea of constitutionalism, and some social issues with respect to the law, such as the death penalty and property rights.
Alexandra Zaffuts
Alexandra is a third-year from Great Falls, Virginia doing an IMP in Bioethics with a minor in astronomy on the pre-med track. Around grounds, Alexandra is involved with medical research, UVA’s Double Reed Ensemble, and the medical fraternity, PhiDE. In her free time, you can find Alexandra volunteering with the Charlottesville-Albemarle Rescue Squad as an EMT or working at the farmer’s market!
Alex Pentimonti
Alex is a third year double-majoring in French & Commerce and minoring in Drama. While she’s originally from Northern Virginia, she’s lived with her family in London, England since 2015. Outside the classroom, Alex is a member of the Virginia Venture Fund, Pi Beta Phi Sorority & the Alfred Marshall Society. In her spare time, she enjoys playing tennis, listening to French music and watching new plays at Live Arts Charlottesville!
Sarah Petchel
Sarah is a second-year from Chesapeake, VA majoring in Computer Science and Economics. Around Grounds, you can find her singing with the University Singers and her philanthropic a capella group, the AcHOOstics. She is also a member of Kappa Delta Sorority. In her spare time, she loves playing the guitar, learning German, doing calligraphy, and going to the beach!
Tess Robertson-Neel
Tess is a fourth year from Sierra Madre, California who is currently pursuing her Master of Public Health after graduating with a B.A. in Global Public Health and Spanish. During undergrad, Tess was involved with the Whethermen comedy group, Greek life, and she continues to be a member of the club rock climbing team. She loves to bake, spend time outdoors, go on road trips and read!
Mary Holland Mason
Mary Holland is a second-year from Charlottesville, Virginia, majoring in English and Public Policy. She is involved in Honor, Madison House volunteering, and is a research assistant in the Virginia Affect and Interoception Lab (VAIL) with the psychology department. In her free time, Mary Holland loves to try different pastas, procrastinate by playing the NYT mini crossword, and go hiking with friends.
Luke Lamberson
Luke is a fourth-year from Midlothian, Virginia who is majoring in Math and Commerce with Concentrations in Finance and Accounting. On grounds he is involved with the University Board of Elections, club running, Catholic Hoos, and Camp Kesem. In his free time, Luke can be found cheering on the Cavaliers, playing poker with friends, or running around grounds.
Madison DeLoach
Madison is a second-year from Richmond, Virginia majoring in Chemistry on a pre-dental track, with plans to become a prosthodontist or orthodontist. She takes pride in being a student-athlete, as you can catch her cheering on the basketball and football teams as a member of the UVA Cheerleading team. Additionally, she is a part of the Black Student Alliance, Undergraduate Student Dental Association, Pre-Dental Society, and the Echols Mentor program. In her free time, she loves to shop and spend time in the library with her friends.
Madison Obermeyer
Madison is a third-year from Fairfax, Virginia double majoring in Economics and Foreign Affairs on the pre-law track. On grounds, she is involved in the Virginia Undergraduate Law Review, Virginia Riding (club equestrian team), and conducts research for both UVA's Darden School of Business and the Karsh Institute of Democracy. In her free time, you can find Madison caring for her favorite team horses or grabbing Bodo's with friends.
Camila Gutierrez
Camila is a third-year double-majoring in Biology and Global Studies with a minor in Data Science. She is involved with SISI Spanish Interpreters at the UVA Hospital, College Science Scholars, Latinx Peer Mentoring Program, and undergraduate research. In her free time, she enjoys watching sunsets with friends, listening to podcasts, and traveling.
Songhan Pang
Songhan Pang is a second-year intending to major in Human Biology and minor in English on a pre-med track. She is involved in research with a cancer biology lab, The Cavalier Daily opinion section, The Virginia Journal of Bioethics, Alpha Epsilon Delta Pre-Health honor society, and Housing & Residence Life as a Resident Advisor. In her free time, Songhan enjoys running, watching movies, and reading/listening to Modern Love at The New York Times.
Jack McCune Wallace
Jack is a first-year from Winchester, Virginia majoring in English on a pre-law track. He is a member of the University Singers, Chamber Singers, the Epsilon Eta Upsilon Environmental Fraternity, and the Jefferson Society. Currently, he's working as a Student Stacks Assistant at the Special Collections library, but in high school he taught taekwondo!
Lily Egenrieder
Lily Egenrieder is a second year Commerce and Data Science student from Loudoun County, VA. She is involved in the Business Ethics Society, Club Pickleball, a volunteer tax program through Madison House, and a variety of intramural sports! She is also a Public Service Pathways Scholar. In her free time she loves doing anything outdoors, spending time with her friends, listening to rock and hip hop music, and trying new things!
Keya Turkiewicz
Keya is a third year from Chesapeake, Virginia. She is double majoring in Global Development Studies and Cognitive Science. Besides being an Echols Ambassador, Keya is a member of the UVA Democratic Futures Project, a youth counselor for the Virginia Equity Center, and a beach volleyball club member. She loves hiking, good outdoor seating, and getting to know the Charlottesville community.
Diya Gupta
Diya is a second year from outside of San Francisco, California. She double-majoring in Global Environments & Sustainability and Commerce. On Grounds, you will find her involved in CASH through the Madison House, McIntire's Asian Student Network, The Lorax Society, and the University Guides Service. You'll also find her in the Meriweather Lewis Institute and Catalyst Civic Engagement Program, alongside climate change research through the Center for Global Health Equity. In her free time, Diya loves to cook, play pickleball, explore new hiking trails, and watercolor. She loves meeting new people, spending time in the sun, and her favorite thing to do in Charlottesville is going to the Saturday morning farmer's market!
Emma Hinson
Emma is a second year from Huntsville, AL. She is hoping to major in Human Biology with a minor in Bioethics. Outside of the classroom, she is involved in research with the Center for Healthy Brain Development, Chi Omega, Madison House, and the Pre-Dental Society. In her free time, she also loves to hike with her dog, try new restaurants around Charlottesville, and bake cookies with her friends.
Charles Dorsey
Charles is a first-year from Norfolk, Virginia hoping to major in Astrophysics and minor in Philosophy. On grounds, he is involved with the Washington Literary Society and Debating Union, the Solar Car team, and Shakespeare on the Lawn. In his free time, he enjoys watching movies, baking, and playing tennis.
Alexandra Holtz
Ali is a second year from Cleveland, OH majoring in Political Philosophy, Policy, and Law and minoring in computer science. She’s also involved in Honor, Charlottesville Debate League, and Moot Court at the university. In her free time, you may find Ali playing ice-hockey with the Women’s Club team at UVA, watching sports and racing, or playing piano!
